In “The Blues Walkin’ Like a Man”, which is echoed in the first line of “Preaching Blues”, we see what looks to be the ghost of Robert Johnson walking past an old abandoned broken down house that represents the home of one of his many women that he would drop in on. One can only imagine the many times Robert gave and received the blues during his lifetime. He was mighty fond of whiskey and women and many say, it was the whiskey and women that eventually brought the bluesman to his untimely end. The energy of the song “Preaching Blues”, is echoed in the gate of the spectral figure, pushing past the long abandoned home having found nobody there. Poor Robert’s soul is still rambling but in this tale, its not to find whiskey or a woman, but to find rest.
